How to Treat Melasma
WHAT IS MELASMA?
Melasma is a skin condition that causes dark, brown patches to appear on the skin.
Melasma are usually darker than your skin tone and can appear on the cheeks, forehead, nose, and chin. It can also appear on the neck and arms.
WHAT CAUSES MELASMA?
Melasma can be caused by a variety of things. One of the biggest causes of melasma is hormonal changes.
Women that are pregnant, take birth control pills, or do hormone therapy are at risk of triggering melasma. Another cause of melasma is stress and thyroid disease. Sun exposure can also cause melasma because ultraviolet rays affect the cells that control pigment.
IS MELASMA TREATABLE?
Yes! Melasma is treatable! Sometimes it can be cured on its own, but most times you will need a treatment to help remove the melasma.
Some of the treatments that can be done to help diminish melasma are chemical peels, dermabrasion, microdermabrasion, and pico laser for melasma!
