What Causes Spider Veins?

What Causes Spider Veins?

Spider veins, also known as telangiectasia, are small visible blood vessels on the skin. They can appear anywhere on the body, but some of the most common areas are the legs and face. They are often a red, blue or purplish color and can form in the shape of webs or branches.

What Causes Spider Veins?

Spider veins are caused by a variety of reasons, but what they all have in common is that the valves inside the veins are damaged and stop working properly. The main reason why they are caused is due to bursting of the blood vessels. The bursting can be caused due to sun exposure or increased blood pressure.

Luckily, here at VIP Laser we offer a few solutions to remove your spider veins.

How to Get Rid of Spider Veins

There are a few ways to lighten the appearance if your unwanted spider veins. Here at VIP Laser, we offer three options to lighten your spider veins.

IPL Photofacial

The IPL Photofacial is an intense pulsed light that delivers precise light through several layers of skin. This generates heat when absorbed by the targeted tissue, which corrects the spider veins in the skin without damaging any of the surrounding tissue. We recommend this treatment for spider veins on the face.

Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is a medical procedure that involves an injection directly in the affected vein. The solution injected causes the vein to scar and forces the blood to be in that vein to switch to a healthier vein. The treated vein is then absorbed into by the local tissue. Once the solution is injected, it can take anywhere from 3-6 weeks to see the full result.

Splendor X Laser

The Splendor X is dual wavelength laser machine that does treatments such as laser hair removal, nail fungus removal, spot removal, and spider vein removal. When the vein is zapped by the laser, the blood cells in the blood vessels absorb the lasers energy. The heat from the laser damages the veins resulting to the blood diverting to healthier veins. Once the vein is damaged, your body will absorb it in the surrounding tissues. It can take up to 1-2 weeks to see the full effects of the treatment.
