What is a Chemical Peel?
WHAT IS A CHEMICAL PEEL?
A chemical peel is a treatment that removes the top layer of the skin! It is used to improve the texture of the skin, make the skin smoother, and to improve fine lines and wrinkles!
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The chemical peel has a variety of acids that raise the acidity of the skin in order to break down the top layer of the skin.
Some of the acids the chemical peel includes are:
- Alpha-hydroxy acids
- Beta-hydroxy acids
- Trichloroacetic acid
When the chemical peel is applied to the skin, it exfoliates the skin. This removes dead and damaged skin cells on the top layer of the skin. The trauma that’s done to the skin creates a sense of urgency. This helps the body build new collagen in order to make new healthy skin.
WHO IS THE CHEMICAL PEEL FOR?
The chemical peel is amazing for anyone who is looking to:
- Improve the skins tone and texture
- Reduce fine lines and wrinkles
- Improve the appearance of minor scars
- Reduce the appearance of melasma
- Reduce the appearance of age spots
THE BENEFITS OF A CHEMICAL PEEL
Melasma is a skin condition that causes dark, brown patches to appear on the skin. Luckily, we have a solution to reduce the appearance of melasma!
The chemical peel helps to shed the top layer of the skin which promoted collagen production! When collagen production is promoted, it creates new, stronger, and healthier skin!
If you have melasma, we recommend a minimum of six chemical peels to see the full effect, however, more may be needed.
REDUCES ACNE SCARS
Breakouts are already frustrating, and we don’t need an acne scar as a reminder either! With a chemical peel, chemicals and acids are used that help break down the dermis (the top layer of the skin). This creates new healthy skin cells that reduce the appearance of acne scars over time.
